More dark stores in quick commerce is good news for you
Flipkart announced this week that it had crossed 1000 dark stores across 130 cities for Flipkart Minutes.
Amazon CEO Andy Jassy is in India, and among the first announcements was expanding Amazon Now to 300 cities with over 1000 dark stores.
Zepto in its recent IPO filing said it had 1,139 dark stores at the end of FY26. It plans to add ~2000 more. Blinkit has 2,243.
What's in it for you?
- •FASTER DELIVERIES: More dark stores closer to you mean faster deliveries, though companies can no longer market them as ‘10-min deliveries’.
- •CHEAPER DELIVERIES: It could also mean cheaper delivery fees as the distance reduces.
- •WIDER ASSORTMENT: More dark stores also mean more items to choose from. You may have had apps tell you a particular item is available at another store and can be sent separately.
