'AI threat' advisory from govt: What you should do now!

CERT-In, the national nodal agency for responding to computer security incidents, issued an advisory this week for AI-driven cyber risks.

The advisory was issued for large organisations, MSMEs and individuals on steps to safeguard from unauthorised access, phishing and impersonation attacks.

The advisory comes in the light of concerns around advanced models such as Anthropic's Mythos.

What you should do

  • Update your apps and browsers for latest security updates.
  • Do not download files from unverified sources.
  • Use strong passwords and enable multi-factor authentication for online accounts.
  • Be cautious while responding to unsolicited messages and mails.
  • Beware of AI-generated deepfakes and always verify.
  • Be sceptical of 'too-good-to-be-true' offers.
  • Avoid sharing personal or official information through unverified channels.
  • Avoid public Wi-Fi for sensitive transactions.
  • Review privacy and security settings on your accounts.
  • Regularly back up important personal data.
  • Keep yourself informed on AI threats.
